Breakable Kitchen Items

For this you will need the following:

  1. Tape
  2. Small and medium boxes
  3. Bubble wrap
  4. Styrofoam Peanuts, blank newsprint or packing paper

How to Pack:

  1. Wrap each glass and mug in bubble wrap and tape shut.  Put layers of bubble wrap between plates and bowls.
  2. Fill the bottom of the boxes with Styrofoam peanuts or wadded paper.  Layer in glasses and mugs with Styrofoam Peanuts or paper, or place stacks of layered plates and bowls on top. If your glasses have stems, place them upright, as if you were putting them on the table.  Fill in sides and top with Styrofoam peanuts and wadded paper.
  3. For larger breakable items, wrap in bubble wrap and tape shut.  Put two or three smaller items or one larger item in the center of a small box filled with Styrofoam peanuts.  Make sure you put a layer of Styrofoam peanuts or wadded paper between smaller items.
  4. Seal all boxes, and mark Kitchen “Fragile”.

Non Breakable Kitchen Items

For this you will need the following:

  1. Tape
  2. Small, medium and large boxes
  3. Blank Newsprint

How to Pack:

  1. For a couple of select boxes, put aside a few essential pieces you will need for the first few days in your new apartment (Frying pan, spatula, a few utensils, etc). Label this box “Kitchen (First Day)”
  2. For packing of all non breakable kitchen items, put blank newsprint or packing paper between the items.  Fill in the spaces with wadded newsprint.
  3. Seal and mark “Kitchen” on the boxes.
